HEALTHY HEART

The Health Care ministry is talking about our heart in honor of National Heart Month.  The heart is one of the organs that we use daily to function. We use our heart in other areas of our lives, like, loving our family, doing what we love, showing love. However we do and can stress our heart out, over work it, and abuse it. There are a number of meanings or jobs the heart has. Yes, it is the thing that beats in your chest; but it pumps your blood through your body providing oxygen, to your organs including your lungs, it keeps you alive, it houses your feelings and emotions. This month let's take care of our most vital organ:

List 5 ways to take care of your heart.  Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually and Nutritionally.

 Spiritually

Let's talk about the spiritual heart. It is the one that is less thought about but the most felt. Many of us have felt love, pain, sympathy. If you have ever had a lack of motivation or experienced a broken heart, then you know the pain a broken heart or unmotivated heart can have. Here are 3 things that can assist a broken heart. Volunteering in an organization that you are passionate about is one way to open and mend your heart.  When is the last time you took time out to actually do something that you love. Volunteering, joining a group, showing compassion even setting boundaries can be considered spiritual love.

Nutritionally

Food many of us know that the best way to take care of our physical heart is to do physical exercises. The American Heart Association ask healthy adults to walk 5000 to 10,000 steps a day.  Weight training also strengthens the heart muscles. Eating more healthy fats, such as salmon, trout, spinach and kale, decrease your risk of heart disease. This will strengthen the heart in order for you to decrease blood pressure.

Our emotional health is one of the things that will kill you. Did you know that most heart attacks happen between 8pm Sunday night and 7am Monday morning? Most of us think that it’s because they are not taking care of their heart or because of heart disease. While this may be the reason on some cases, Did you ever think it could it be stress? Stress can cause your heart a lot of pain, physical and mental. However, stress can create a hormone imbalance that will cause weight gain, obesity and a number of health problems. One way to decrease stress is to meditate, pray, find time to relax, learn to delegate and how to say NO! In order to take care of our mental heart we need to also take care of our emotional heart. Our emotional heart can very well impact our mental heart.

Physical

Our physical heart is the thing that pumps to keep us alive, we need the heart to keep blood pumping through the body, and oxygenate our bodies. Walking for 20 minutes a day, challenging the heart will also strengthen the heart. Weight training can strengthen the heart and the muscles around it, making it stronger. Lastly, take care of your physical heart by taking care of your temple!
