“Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. The one who plants and the one who waters work as a team with the same purpose.” 1 Corinthians 3:5, 8 (NLT)
The Young Adult Ministry of the West Oakland Missionary Baptist Church (WOMBC) targets high school graduates through early adulthood. The Young Adult Ministry fosters a loving and compassionate environment, supporting one another through the experiences of growing up, getting out on their own, and starting to establish their lives. With college, new careers, new marriages, etc., the Young Adult Ministry pays close attention to the needs and lives of individuals between the ages of 19 – 35, encouraging these individuals to have a personal relationship with Christ and glorifying God by prioritizing their time and commitments to His will for their lives.
The Young Adult Ministry uses social networks (e.g. Facebook, Ning, etc.) and word of mouth to reach out to those individuals who are currently not active, encouraging and inviting them to attend events. This ministry also plans events that are impactful for the community and the Church. All Young Adult Ministry events and programs are designed to meet the highest standards of Christian significance and Ministry outreach. During events, attempts are made to gather contact information for any young adult visitor for future follow-up.
The Young Adult Ministry bases all programs and events on Christian discipleship, ministry, fellowship, evangelism, and worship. Some of the events The Young Adult Ministry sponsors or participates in are:
· Homeless Care Packages
· Hank Elder Scholarship Banquet
· Community Block Party
· Thanksgiving Dinner Donation
· Angel Tree
Regular Young Adult Ministry meetings are held every 2nd Monday of each month at 7:15 pm in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Young Adult Ministry Bible study is held every 4th Monday. If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please see the Ministry Leaders or any member of the Young Adult Ministry.
